Passport Palestine

Palestinian Cities, towns and villages
Working Data File

I began collecting this data in 1985 as a personal project under the title "Biladi: The Palestine Database." At that time, BILADI was a computer softwearware program, the first of its kind, which allowed users to search and compile data on Palestinian History. The most popuar database was the Village Database which provided the details below.
Over the past two decades I have been slowly collecting data on each village and entering it into the database. I try to update this database often with new information and now links, photos and videos.

Wadi Fukin Jerusalem District 10 km W of Bethlehem 160 124 35 6 31 43 Arab village Report from Sam Bahour:

Today I visited with a group of Israeli activist (they led the way) to Wadi Fukin, a Palestinian agricultural village of 1,200 people SE of Bethlehem (South from Rt. 375W).  I had to pass through 4 Israeli military checkpoints to get there and the only reason I could do so is that I am a foreign passport holder.  My wife who holds a Palestinian ID could not get pass the first checkpoint. The Wadi Fukin village is being entirely suffocated by the surrounding illegal Israeli settlements and Apartheid/Separation Wall.  We heard gulling detail of how every aspect of this simple community is being ethnically cleansed -- everything from legal battles to the settlers on the hilltops dumping their waste water on the village farmlands.  These Palestinian farmers seamlessly interchanges between Arabic, Hebrew and English, making it feel as if all three were one language so everyone listening feels involved in the discussion.

To me, these are the real Palestinians!  Facing a future shrinking by the day, these farmers produce healthy crops, fight the legal battles for land that they hold title too, deal with gun- toting Jewish settlers that come to bath naked (and piss) in their historic irrigation pools, and contemplate how to get the produce to market around the maze of Israeli military checkpoints that surround their village (this was the reason for our visit).  And in the face of all this they remain upbeat, hopeful, steadfast, hospitable beyond explanation, and true to a sense of real justice and real non-violence (the non-violence that you will never see on your TV screens).
