WASHINGTON DC, MAY 7-9: American Middle East Affairs Committee, 3rd U.S. Arab Economic Forum at the Hilton Washington. The USAEF is the premier event for people with an interest in business and policy decisions impacting the U.S. and Middle East. This year’s forum continues to build on the success of the previous forums and will again unite over 1,000 high level corporate leaders, heads of state, ministers, academicians, politicians, policy makers and concerned citizens from the United States and the Arab World to explore new thinking on the approach U.S. - Arab relations. NEW YORK, NY MAY 15: The Westin New York at Times Square Gershwin Ballroom, 270 West 43rd Street  New York, NY, U. S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE DIVERSITY CAREER NETWORKING NIGHT. Representatives of the U.S. State Department, including Ambassadors and other senior-level members, will be visiting Manhattan, New York in an effort to recruit more Women, African Americans, Latinos and other people of color.  All interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend. The New York event will be the 11th held in this series since the U.S. State Department and MPN partnered to initiate this national effort to ensure that the U.S. State Department looks more like the face of America. Previous events have been held in Houston, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, San Antonio, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Raleigh, and Detroit. Future events will be held in other highly diverse major U.S. metro areas. WHO: Ambassadors, Foreign Service Diplomats, and entry-level officers from the U.S. State Department will be available to speak with attendees about the exciting career opportunities awaiting them in the State Department.

CHICAGO, IL MAY 17-18: Ray Hanania's "Arabs of Chicagoland Tour" hosted by the City of Chicago as a part of the annual "Chicago Faces & Places" tour offerings. WASHINGTON DC JUNE 12-15: You are invited to join the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) for its 2008 Annual National Convention. DEARBORN, MI, JUNE 13-15: Dearborn Arab International Festival. This 3-day event is a free, family-centered cultural celebration that will attract over 300,000 people from Michigan, the Midwest, and Canada. This celebration of cultures will feature ethnic performances representing the diverse heritage of the people of Metropolitan Detroit.  It boasts a great number of amusements, live musical acts-both local and international, 30 international food booths, coffee cup readings, henna, arts and crafts, a children’s tent, artisans, Arab merchandise, and a giant old-fashioned Ferris wheel that overlooks East Dearborn.

SAN DIEGO, CA, JUNE 27-28: Sabeel, a Christian Arab organization, will hold its convention at the Joan B Kroc Institute fro Peace and Justice in San Diego, California. DETROIT, NOV 1: The Arab American Historical Foundation 3rd annual Arab American History Conference hosted by the Arab American National Museum, Detroit, MI. The Arab American National Museum (AANM) and the Arab American Historical Foundation (AAHF) are seeking proposals for papers for the 2008 Arab American History Conference. The AANM and the AAHF are partnering to bring about a conference which collects and disseminates research about Arab Americans and Arab American history. To this end, we are accepting proposals for papers on topics dealing with Arab Americans within the disciplines of humanities and the social sciences on contemporary or historical issues related to Arab Americans.PAPERS: Please send a one-page abstract (250 – 300 words) for a 15 – 20 minute presentation relating to Arab Americans in a contemporary or historical context.
